Features

What it does, and what it doesn’t yet.

RueRoo Dog is being built in the open. Everything below is sorted into what works today, what we’re building now, and what we’re only thinking about — because deciding whether to trust software with a living animal is not the moment for vague marketing.

In the app today

Live

Built, tested, and running. If it is in this band, it works.

Households with roles
Owner, admin, member. One owner, who manages members and billing.
Multiple dogs
Every schedule, log and reminder is scoped to a specific dog.
Sign in with Apple or Google
No password to invent or forget.
Push notifications
iPhone and Android.
Scheduling that survives daylight saving
7am stays 7am across the clock change, verified against the tz database. Naive reminder apps fire twice that morning, or not at all.
Schedule patterns
Daily, specific weekdays, every N days, or monthly on a date — clamped sensibly in short months.
Care types
Meals, walks, potty breaks, medication, supplements, grooming, and anything else you need to remember.

Being built now

Building

In active development. We are not putting dates on these, because a date we miss is worse than no date at all.

The daily loop

Today list
Everything due for every dog, one screen.
One-tap completion with attribution
Every entry carries who did it and when.
Duplicate suppression
Claim a task and it's claimed for everyone. This is the “done twice” half of the promise.
Feeding log with amount
Not just “fed” — how much. Matters for weight, and for vets.
Walks with per-person assignment
Thursday evening is Jayson's.
Shared household notifications
Everyone sees what everyone logged.
Skip with a reason
She was at the kennel. The dose was held. A skip is not a miss.

Family

Kid profiles and Family Mode
Children participate fully, with no account and no login.
Allowance ledger
Kids earn credit for chores they actually completed. No real money ever moves — RueRoo keeps score, you settle up however you already do.
Time-boxed sitter access
Give a sitter or walker access for a weekend. It expires on its own.

Health

Potty log and stool scoring
Record what you saw, on the 1–7 scale vets already use.
Medicine and supplement minder
Reminders and confirmation. Identification, logging and reminding — never guidance.
Abnormal-event alerts
Vomiting, blood, a seizure — logged once, and everyone in the household is told immediately.
Vet-ready PDF export
Walk into the appointment with the actual record instead of trying to remember.

The hard parts

Pet lifecycle
When a dog dies or is rehomed, reminders stop that day. The history stays.
Household changes
If a household splits, ownership can move. The dog's past is not erased for either person.
Succession
Name a recovery contact, so the dogs' care continues if something happens to you.

Ideas we're exploring

Exploring

Not committed, not scheduled, and not something to buy the app for. Listed because you deserve to know where our heads are.

Prescription scanner
Scan the label to set up the dose schedule.
Photo stool capture with automatic scoring
Describes and scores what it sees against the standard scale. It would never diagnose.
Barcode scanning and reorder nudges
Scan a supplement tub and know before you run out.
Potty-training programme
A structured programme that grades the dog and the owner separately. Consistency is the owner's job.
Offline-first logging
Log a walk with no signal. It syncs when you're back.
GPS walk tracking
Track the walk, see it on the lock screen.
Calendar push
Assigned walks land in Google Calendar or your device calendar.
Pooch pic of the day
A photo a day, stitched into a year of your dog growing up.
Two boundaries

Things RueRoo Dog will never do.

It will never give veterinary advice.

No symptom interpretation, no dosage guidance, no “your dog may have…”. RueRoo Dog identifies, logs and reminds. That is the whole boundary, and it does not move. If your dog is unwell, call your vet.

It will never guarantee a reminder.

Push delivery depends on Apple, Google, your network and your phone. We work hard at the part we control — the scheduling — but nobody should make RueRoo Dog the only safeguard for a life-critical dose. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
